Where you from? Who What do you do? Are you a Mac or a PC? Or do you just drool over the Mac guy on the ads? Or are you some other kind of geek altogether?
Hello everyone, I'm a geek and a nerd I think. I currently feed myself doing research in the physical sciences, I use Linux (Debian FTW), and I play D&D for fun.
I had to look up what FTW means a month or two ago, so I'm not really a computer gaming geek ;) For me the universe is the game... (but I would try WoW if I had a spare three months of my life to give away)
Macs for desktop use, Linux servers at work... (and some Solaris, but the less said about that, the better.) Still have a Windows PC for games, until I crack and buy a Mac Pro. :-)
If I had the spare cash to throw at yet another machine, and the time to play with the thing - I'd love to pick me up a nice shiny Mac! But it would probably irritate the crap out of me that I have some nice software on one that wouldn't be available on another.
Ya'll have heard my Mac evangelism before so I'll just say my Mac runs windows AND linux just fine. So you all can suck it.
Oh Snap!
Seriously though, this whole "I like Mac because PC sucks" or vise versa is old. If you like mac, windows, or linux, then use it! It's ok, your not a bad person for using it. There are advantages to each of them (even Windows) only a fool would discount though.
I think the PC vs. Mac and Linux vs. Windows debate was furiously
fought in the past - it seemed to have calmed down these days - maybe
it should be about cat vs. dog people ;-)
Personally I shout for the underdog and as such Linux rank high on
my list - I'm also a PC person because I can hack and slam a system
of my choice together - and weigh performance vs. cost if I'm in the
market to upgrade where as Mac is (was?) limited. But, and as the old
members already know, I must disappoint when it comes to an OS - I
use Windows! Why? At work we are forced to work with Windows, at home
all my software run in Windows - so I'm using Windows as a matter of
convenience rather than choice ;-)
haha I'm so excited of this site!!! As a matter of fact I'm joining since I'm a little bit geek and I've discovered that I do like geeks too!! Actually I have found the cutest and smartest geek ever...but he lives 6 hours by plane and I couldn't make it to live there where he lives....=(
I hate Macs, now more than ever where they're like a kinky linux-pc wanna be thing hahaha Wanna change my opinion? Try
I'm a college student from MA, finally finishing my BS in Psychology. I'm a PC user who is much more like linux that I'd like to admit. I mostly wish I had the stamina and time to learn linux, but I'll settle for relatively stable, compatable, and supported for now tyvm.
I'm a sci-fi geek, but only the good stuff. Dune, for example (the books, not the movies, for heaven's sake!). I'm also a science geek, as I used to be a physics major. I'm a martial arts teacher, and I plan to enter the seminary in a year and apply for ordination in the Episcopal church.
I'm also a musician. I sing tenor-countertenor (ok, I can sing everything from baritone to high soprano and make all the girls jealous at me for it!), and I am teaching myself to play kantele. (Look it up, it's awesome!)
And yeah, the Mac guy's kinda cute, but seriously John Connor is way cuter. So is Lee Adama, though he's a bit old for me. 'course I had a crush on Wesley Crusher for a long time as a kid.... and Atreu from The Neverending Story. And Echeb was kinda cute, even though he was such a killjoy. I should stop now... or else I'll find the charachter limit.....

"I must not fear
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that bring total oblivion.
I will face my fear. I will allow it to pass over me and through me,
I think you may be waiting a while to see my website no longer be under construction :-p It's just a junk website that I almost never update and usually only work on when I am bored or if I want to try a website trick. Maybe with my current level of boredom I may work on it though... hmmmmm
And where is everyone else who is new? There has to be more newbies in the house. I can't be the only one :-p
So I guess since I've only been here under a month that would classify me as a newbie. So I'll give you the DL on me.
I am currently studying at the University of Leeds in England as a study abroad. I just took my last exam of my undergraduate career last week, and so now I await results of my exams! This means that I have graduated from my home university back in the U.S. which is UC Davis, which I'm sure some of you have heard of, with a BS in Mathematics. Next year I go back to UC Davis in order to get a masters degree/teaching credential so that I can stat to teach the younger folks a thing or two about math.
I am a P.C. user mainly because of the functionality of the hardware. I don't like the idea that Apple has a monopoly (in essence) of its hardware, and I also like discount shopping, so thats PCs for me. I am currently using windows, but I hope to be switching to Ubuntu with my next computer (which I will hopefully be able to afford by september!). Even though I do like the Apple interface, and especially the mac guy on the TV adverts... yummmmm.
I get very geeky when it comes to computers even though I don't really know the first thing about them. I know more than most of my friends, but I sometimes get lost when other people talk about certain topics, but I hope to keep learning. I love computers! So my main geekiness is my love in maths. On my downtime/bored time, I sit and just do random math problems. And that is how geeky I am :( I also enjoy all things sci fi, and am currently catching up on stargate atlantis and also am about to begin watching stargate sg-1 in order to catch up on that.
Ummm, so yeah. That's about all for me. Except for the basic stuff I guess, such as, I'm gay, 21 years old, yaddah yaddah yaddah, but yeah. Hope that's all everyone wants and I hope to contribute to this community regularly! (At least as often as I can considering I probably won't have internet on and off for the next few months until I move to a new house in August...)

I prefer games which you learn in 30 seconds an then you play for a few weeks, like those in orisinal: http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/
(it helps that they are deadly cute)
WOW
You'll need more then three months of your life, just be prepaird to stop playing any other game for about 1.5 years.
Oh, and just when you're about to finish the end game content....the expansion comes out....
It's a big game, but it is a lot of fun, most of the time...:-)

Oh, and a PS2, PS3 and XBox 360 for other games.
Forced too...not that I would choos differently...
I work in a paperless office, all windows, all MS products, thank the Universe we are a small office...
I like blaming the office for my operating system, it allows me to complain without taking responsibility...lol
Anyway, back to the origin of the post, name's Josh live in Palm Springs, SoCal Native...and I love the rain....because we don't have any. :->
